How Grail Ranger works
Grail Ranger is a bounty board for scarce cards. Buyers post what they want, Rangers find who holds it, and Sellers prove possession before anyone talks money.

THE THREE ROLES
Buyer
Posts a Hunt for a specific grail. Stays anonymous on the Bounty Board. Pays the advertised Finder's Fee plus the platform fee (10% under $1,000, 5% on $1,000 or more) when the seller is open to selling or a sale completes (or immediately on qualify if they uncheck that option), and pays the agreed sale price plus that same platform fee if a deal closes.
Ranger
Tracks down who currently owns the card and invites them to verify. Earns the Finder's Fee when that attributed path fully qualifies, not for submitting a lead alone.
Seller
The person who currently holds the grail. Proves possession, chooses whether to deal, and receives payout if a sale completes.
FROM HUNT TO PAYOUT
Buyer posts a Hunt
Describe the card, set a bounty, a Finder's Fee, or both, and choose how long the Hunt stays live. If you already know some copies or sellers, you can list them so the Finder's Fee does not apply to those copies. A saved payment method is required before publishing a Hunt with a Finder's Fee. The poster goes up on the Bounty Board with an anonymous Buyer label.
Ranger taps I Know the Seller
Rangers browse the board, open a Hunt, and tap I Know the Seller to get a unique invite link and QR code. Share the link in a DM or show the QR at a card show. Create the invite before tipping the seller so attribution stays locked.
Seller joins via invite or I Own This Card
The Seller opens the invite link or scans the QR, then confirms ownership. They can also tap I Own This Card on the Hunt. If they came through a Ranger's invite, that Ranger keeps Finder's Fee credit, including a later self-claim after that invite was opened. If no Ranger has a live invite and they self-claim first, the Seller can earn the Finder's Fee themselves.
Possession challenge and review
The Seller writes a short challenge code on paper and records one continuous video showing the card front and back with that paper in frame. An Admin reviews the clip and approves or rejects ownership.
Finder's Fee qualifies
After Admin approval, the Finder's Fee is earned by the attributed Ranger, or by the Seller on an unlocked self-find, when a fee applies and has not already been paid. Copies the Buyer already listed as known do not earn a fee, and the Hunt stays open for other copies. While any Ranger invite is still active on the Hunt, self-finder fee is soft-locked so sellers cannot skip a shared QR or link to pocket the fee. By default the Buyer pays the advertised fee plus the platform fee (10% under $1,000, 5% on $1,000 or more) if the seller is open to selling, or if a sale is completed. Buyers can uncheck that option to pay as soon as a seller is verified, including sellers who are not selling. Grails Found counts Ranger claims with a paid fee.
Deal anonymously
Buyer and Seller trade structured offers and counters in the deal room. The Hunt stays live on the Bounty Board while deals are open, and leaves the board when both sides agree on a price. Contact details stay filtered so deals stay on Grail Ranger.
Pay, fulfill, payout
When both sides agree on a price, the Buyer pays the agreed price plus the platform fee (10% under $1,000, 5% on $1,000 or more) through the platform. The card ships or is picked up in person. After that, the Seller receives the full agreed sale price.
FINDER'S FEE
A lead is not a find. The fee only lands when the invite path reaches Qualified.
- Submitting a lead without a completed verify path
- Seller declines the invite, never responds, or no longer owns the card
- Admin rejects the possession evidence
- Self-referral (Ranger and Seller are the same person)
- Self-claim while a Ranger's invite is still active (soft lock: verify and deal without taking the fee)
- A copy the Buyer already listed as known (serial or named seller)
WARM INTRODUCTION
By default the Buyer is charged the Finder's Fee if the seller is open to selling, or if a sale is completed. Buyers can uncheck that option to pay as a warm introduction as soon as the seller verifies, even if they are not ready to sell. The deal room still opens with the Seller marked not open to selling.
PLATFORM FEES
You pay a 10% platform fee under $1,000 and 5% on $1,000 or more, on Finder's Fees and on final sales. The advertised Finder's Fee and the agreed sale price are what the Ranger and Seller receive.
TRUST
Public standing helps everyone know who shows up when it counts. Exact scoring formulas stay private.
BUYER RELIABILITY
Buyers carry a public label: NEW, GOOD, EXCELLENT, or RESTRICTED. Paying Finder's Fees and completing sales builds trust. Failed payments, walking away after acceptance, and lost disputes pull the label down, and can restrict posting new Hunts.
GRAILS FOUND
Rangers show a public count: Grails Found (claims with a paid Finder's Fee). Misses such as no reply, the card already sold, or a Seller who will not deal do not change that count.
